'Rescue' documentary, 2015, 9:28, video, sound, 16:9 aspect ratio
In collaboration with Amalia Ulman, 'Rescue' invited a select group of participants to spend the night in a faux shelter replete with pampering, goodie bags and treats typical of a privileged creative elite. As the night wears on, the peaceful shelter morphs into a stormy torrent of rain, howling wind and sounds of architectural destruction. Ultimately subsiding into a blissful morning of sunshine and birdsong. With my contribution I wanted to reflect on the absurdity of the aggressive and global mass-marketing of art and culture in the face of the looming climate crisis. Banal luxury aesthetics and trappings are highlighted as the prime symbols of this collective insanity.
