A descent into the eerie architecture of the peripheral, obligatory spaces we encounter on the way to somewhere else. Drawing from a spectrum of personal architectural references, from the fantastical to mundane late-modernism, the user’s journey is intended to evoke a hauntingly familiar dream state. Hoping to inspire a sense in the user of a collective 'we' experience. It was also a continuation of an inquiry into the emotional sound of space.
Extrapolated from an existing scene from 'Tone Rooms', the environment is extended to correspond with Clarice Jensen's slowly building composition of the same name. Evoking a fated journey, the user descends a seemingly infinite escalator. Eventually an elevator lobby appears, and the user is enveloped by a central elevator car. Now contained, they are brought before a faceless siren emerging from the murky depths and slowly returning us to the void.
The piece was originally created for live video projection for the 'for this from that will be filled' performance at The Kitchen. It was also toured extensively with Clarice Jensen in 2018-19 appearing at Big Ears Festival (Knoxville), Ambient Church (New York), and Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (Athens) among others.

It was also developed as a virtual reality experience. Featuring minimal interactivity but immersing the user in the environment and soundscape. The escalator becomes both a metaphorical and functional way to move the user through the experience.
